As with a lot of things in life, people often have a hard time talking about their feelings. They hold things in, and they don’t come out with how they are really feeling about something.
It could be because of the way they were raised. Now that they are parents, they need to change their ways for the betterment of their children.
Their children are counting on them to offer up sage wisdom, advice, and knowledge on everything that life has to offer.
This is especially true when it comes to the college experience. This is a big moment in their life, and they don’t want to screw it up. The AAC (American Addiction Centers) wants to make sure parents and students are talking openly and honestly.
With it being late August, many young students have already started their classes. They might think the biggest thing they have to worry about is how to do when it comes to their grades.

According to recent studies done by the AAC, one in three college students have abused alcohol. That number is very scary if you are a parent. Another stat to consider if you are a parent: As many any as one in five students have used an illicit drug while in college. This is the information they need to bring to their kids.
They need to let them know they can’t be like everyone else. They need to be their own person. If people truly understand them and respect them, they will let them do their own thing without pressuring them.
