Anthony Petrello is described in many terms: a mathematical genius, CEO of Nabors Industries. One of the most powerful people in the oil and gas industry, Nabors Industry. However, he mostly stands out for his selfless philanthropic endeavors.
He has been championing the embitterment of healthcare provision for years now, and there is no doubt that he is far from done.
Inspired by Love
Anthony Petrello’s generosity is inspired by the unconditional love that he and his wife have for their daughter. The couple’s daughter, Carena, was born at 24 weeks weighing just about one pound and suffering from periventricular leukomalacia (PVL). As a result, Carena was also diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which is associated with developmental delays and chronic motor skill impairment.
To this end, they have been greatly involved in medical research in this field not only financially but also morally and emotionally.
All-Round Philanthropy – Financial, Moral, and Emotional Support
To date, Anthony Petrello has donated $5 million the Texas Children’s Hospital’s neurological research center. He has also promised to donate $2 million more to further support the hospital’s research. Additionally, the couple has been researching about other neurological research centers around the world and providing financial support where necessary.
In addition to donating millions of dollars, Anthony Petrello has promised to rally other philanthropists to donate toward this course. To this end, the Petrellos are constantly involved in charities and social gatherings where they raise awareness about PVL and other neurological disorders affecting infants. The couple has also been inspirational to many other parents dealing with similar issues. In particular, the love that they have demonstrated towards their daughter has helped in alleviating the stigma associated with PVL and other neurological diseases.
Anthony Petrello has also been involved in many other charities in Houston, Texas and the world at large. He has donated towards environmental conservation, alleviation of poverty, and extermination of hunger, among other charities.
The Petrellos have aided their daughter every step of the way for the past eight years in spite of their busy schedule. At eight years old, Carena is now only learning to eat, talk, and walk by herself. However, the couple sees this as a great milestone, and their daily inspiration comes from watching Carena eat her breakfast without aid.
