Impossible Foods

When Impossible Foods was in search of a meat packer for its new Impossible Burger, the all plant-based burger OSI Group was the first choice. The co-production agreement between the two companies allows OSI to produce the Impossible Burger in its Chicago Plant in a plant specifically designed according to the Impossible Foods production plant in Oakland. The Oakland is a 68000 square foot facility, and the new one located inside an OSI plant in Chicago is almost exactly like the one in Oakland. The new plant had to be designed according to the requirements of Impossible Foods, which needed many anti-contamination checkpoints to build into the entrances, exits, and employee preparation rooms. The inspections help to ensure the facility remains a contamination-free zone.

Co-Producer of Impossible Burger

OSI built the new production facility according to a pre-set plan given by Impossible Foods. Shateel Shah, speaking for Impossible Foods, said the new facility is almost entirely like the Impossible Foods production facility in Oakland. The Chicago plant will be used by Impossible Foods employees to produce the Impossible Burger. The Chicago plant has an advanced security system which will only allow authorized Impossible Foods employees on the premises.
