Ask Aaron Lupuloff, Senior Executive Director of the GCPS Foundation for Gwinnett County Public Schools of Georgia what his mission is and he’ll answer that it is to “encourage, embrace, educate, excite, emblazon, and empower all of our students and teachers. We always help where the need is greatest.”
“Helping the need” is where Aaron has dedicated his efforts. He is a founding member of the GCPS Foundation, which was established over 10 years ago. Last year alone (2018), the organization was able to award more than $207 million in educational and military costs for its graduating students, funding approximately 40 scholarships. This school system is the largest in the state of Georgia and the 13th largest in the United States, and partners with the GCPS Foundation to provide support for over 180,000 students and 11,000 teachers.
Aaron Lupuloff earned his Finance degree from the University of Alabama and worked in the finance industry for several years before deciding to devote his time and efforts to public education and philanthropy. Beginning with participating in the creation of the Norcross High School Foundation after being approached by the school’s new principal who had an idea to create a foundation supporting academics, athletics and the arts, Aaron, in turn, helped to establish the GCPS Foundation just 3 years later. This foundation provides the funding for leadership development programs and scholarships, and supports teaching and student achievement.
Based on rocketreach.com, despite his hand in the success of the GCPS Foundation, Aaron made this response when asked in an interview by George Baker of Interview.net what he considered to be the secret of the GCPS Foundation’s success. “The secret sauce is that great schools build great communities. As long as individuals embrace this message, they will embrace helping others.”
It is obvious that he believes in that, wholeheartedly. He and his wife, Jan, not only help to support the GCPS Foundation programs, but also Partners against Domestic Violence, The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and Camp Twin Lakes. They also endow three scholarships to the Disability Resource Center for Students of the University of Georgia. To see more about Aaron you can visit foundation.org
